Get to know me!

Mother * Artist * Art Therapist * Teacher

Lauren Sachs, MA

A lover of many creative outlets from a young age, I developed my skills in Fine Arts as an Art major at the University of Maryland (College Park).  Walking the fine line between art and science, I balanced my courses in art with a minor in Astronomy.  After completing my undergraduate studies in 1998, I combined my passion for art with my desire to help others and studied Art Therapy at the George Washington University (Washington, D.C.), where I received a Master's Degree (MA) in Art Therapy in 2002.

I have employed my skills as an Art Therapist in numerous settings, and with various ages and populations.

I have also taught early childhood education in locations around the globe - from Baltimore, Maryland, to Oakland, California, to Ra'anana, Israel.

Through my years of training and practical work, I truly believe that every child is an artist.  I look forward to meeting yours.

Testimonials

Lauren Sachs is an excellent art teacher. Her knowledge in artists and painting approaches, both old and new is comprehensive and thorough. She is familiar with abstract art, cubism, oil, and other styles. She teaches in a way which is not only educational for the kids but fun as well. She brings the best out of the kids! Highly recommended.

P.S. Lauren also did our daughter's birthday party and it was really amazing, special and unique!

Lauren's chug gave my daughter the wonderful weekly experience of expressing her creativity through a variety of means, tools, materials, and artists in a cozy, loving space that respects each child and their ideas.  My daughter loves this weekly treat and has made the most magnificent individual pieces.

Express Yourself art chug run by Lauren Sachs has been one of the most fulfilling and educational extra-curricular activities my 9-year-old has ever taken part in.  From Monet to Picasso, and Warhol to Carle, the information relayed and the opportunity for the children to express themselves is second to none.  Thank you Lauren!
